Ottawa house admonishes GC Strategies partner Kristian Firth
House members argued Firth showed 'total disrespect'

OTTAWA – The House of Commons on Wednesday for the first time in more than a century admonished a private citizen for showing “total disrespect” to the institution and its members.
After a fiery debate that lasted more than two hours, MPs unanimously voted in favour of a motion presented by the procedure and House affairs committee to admonish Kristian Firth, a partner with GC Strategies.
The motion indicates that Firth and Darren Anthony, co-owners of GC Strategies, were previously found in contempt of Parliament for refusing to fully co-operate with a House committee studying the government’s use of the Emergencies Act.
The committee found that while Anthony answered most of the questions put to him, Firth refused to answer 138 questions. Firth said he did so on the advice of his lawyer, who was present at the time.
